Wonderful discussion, positive feelings.  I had the courage to utilize likes with a client whitout hypnosis just talking with the client. This client had Social anxiety and he enjoyed cooking and he found how he could utilize those resources he had when cooking to those moments he had Social anxiety. He solved himself this problem he had.

I just read a script on chronic pain by Mark Jensen . It went on and on magic elevator , happy place counting down numbers , . The kitchen sink. I tend to find long monologue hypnosis sessions painfully boring. Of course Rossi would say therapists talk too much. I agree.  I guess there is certain client styles and preferences and therapist style and preferences and then just do your best.

Jerry, scripts are generic, unlike people. Discovering what's missing for a unique individual suffering pain leads to a respectful tailored process which is likely to be effective and permanent, specially if we include the experience of learning.

PS: I have a copy of Jay Haley’s book on the subject and will most certainly endeavour to learn as much as I can about Dr Erickson’s psychiatric technique.

Hello, William, perhaps next year. Haley was into power and strategies which was an important part of Erickson's approach, but there is so much more - so much more.
