Would anyone be interested to set up a few sessions to share over Zoom or whatever for practice and sharing ideas, thoughts? Or even to discuss cases that we have been working on. I follow and learn from Michael Yapko and very interested in anything Ericksonian Hypnotherapy.

MONDO POETRY about hypnosis - Searching for COLLABORATION - Japanese flavour

Hi there - I want to write a MONDO poetry book this year (I've pencilled in June for first draft to be completed). It will be on a Hypnosis theme. Well, a mind-play theme if you like. If you like Japanese poetry you'll love this project.

I need someone else to write with.. If you are interested, please email me on my personal email janenash.au@gmail.com.

If you're not sure, a MONDO is Japanese collaborative form of poetry from about 1000 AD -

If you're not sure, a MONDO is Japanese collaborative form of poetry from about 1000 AD -

Each poem is written by two poets, one writes the question and the other writes the answer (2 stanzas total). We could take turns in who does the answer/question...

FORM: - 2 stanzas of 3 lines each; 19 syllables or less; often 5-7-7 or sometimes like a haiku 5-7-5. Poems are written in the spirit of Zen type response through meditation and observation of natural surroundings.

I have an idea that I want the questions and the answers to be around hypnosis and mind play but happy to take on suggestions to improve. So, I'm looking for a partner.. . Anyone interested?  I won't get started until May and I aim to be finished at the end of June. Will be publishing as an E-Book this year.

Remember - it's got to be around HYPNOSIS and MIND PLAY - just another way to tell a story!

Thanks - Jane

Parasomnias

I am so enjoying having this community t be a part of!

I have a new client who desires to get relief from a type of parasomnia that is far beyond restless leg syndrome, though that along with twitching is how it begins while going into the early sleep states or hypnagogic state.

It progresses to punching and kicking  and there is a partner there with the patient when this occurs.

It progresses to punching and kicking  and there is a partner there with the patient when this occurs.

I am beginning with going beneath the condition or point of origin at a cellular level and then perhaps clearing if presented with trauma or blocks as client has requested.

Are there any particular ways of working or playing trance wise with this that you might have in your experience?

I have worked quite a bit with insomnia and nightmares in my practice office but not these types, like sleepwalkers or paralysis.

Thanks so very much!

Online delivery challenges

Hi all,

Now that we're living in the age of coronavirus, I was wondering how those of you who have successfully delivered therapy online go about establishing whether a client will be able to successfully connect to a session prior to beginning therapy?

Hi all,

Now that we're living in the age of coronavirus, I was wondering how those of you who have successfully delivered therapy online go about establishing whether a client will be able to successfully connect to a session prior to beginning therapy?

My current day job is in software development, and I run company-wide Zoom meetings every two weeks. Our company has a high bandwidth network and offices in several countries, but even with our good network we still run into issues with connections dropping out or the audio going into "slow motion" mode. Considering how distracting this is to company meetings, I can only begin to imagine how distracting it would be to a client.

Given that the connectivity and equipment available to clients is unknown, do you setup a test meeting prior to the session to make sure everything will run ok?

What about during a session? How do you plan for / adapt to dropouts or disconnections?

Cheers,

Malcolm.

E-book

Hi Rob,

I'm having a hunt around for the ebook you mentioned. It is the thing I am missing. I would be happy for some direct suggestion for this one.

Thank you.

Lisa

What a valuable resource!

Good morning, Rob and the learning community.

As a new practitioner, I am still finding my way in the hypnotherapy community. This morning I was feeling overwhelmed and isolated but then I watched the coaching call from this month with Rob and the wonderful participants. It was such a beautiful and heartening experience. This afternoon I'll be taking a tour of my own resources and remembering to anchor the feelings of excitement and blessedness that being able to join such a generous and collabo…

Relief from migraine pain

Hi all,

I am currently completing a Diploma of Clinical Hypnosis and Strategic Psychotherapy, and have no experience in a clinical setting but lots of ideas and enthusiasm for the power of hypnotherapy. I recently had the pleasure of seeing Rob present a demonstration of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy at the AHA conference, and it was so inspiring I signed up here.

One of the unexpected benefits I’ve discovered while studying hypnotherapy is a noticeable reduction in the number of headaches I get. I used to take headache tablets two to three times each week without thinking, and it was just something “I did” that was part of life, not something I’d even noticed might be unusual.

Now, I notice how rarely I need to actually take headache tablets. It’s become so rare that, when I went to take some recently for a head cold, I momentarily paused and realised I couldn’t remember the last time I’d taken any.

This has been a really positive change in my life. So I wondered if I might be able to help facilitate a similarly positive change in the life of a friend of mine who regularly suffers from migraines.

This person has had migraines most of their adult life, and gets the “take these hospital-strength painkillers and go lie down for a couple of days” type of migraines.

When I was thinking through how I might approach this in a session, I realised that the four-step method I recently saw demonstrated by Rob probably wasn’t appropriate for pain relief. I mean, I can ask them what they like to do, and what they like about doing that, but I can’t really say “and how is having a migraine like the thing you like doing” ....

So I’m wondering if anyone can give me some guidance on how to approach the treatment of migraines, or relief from pain in general.

Thanks in advance,

Malcolm.

Hypnotised by the label

Referefing to coaching call from this month I must write about the impact it made for me to think about these words "hypnotised by the label ".

I was doing this with my latest client not being able to trust his abilities when he told me about himself. When I saw him this week I had done some prepairing because I thought it was nesessary considering the"cause". But just before he came I rejected all my ideas and I said to myself just listen and have trust. And indeed he found the resources himself…
